VLE Upgrade Project – Summer downtime scheduled

The VLE will undergo a major upgrade this summer moving to version 9.1 of Blackboard Learn. Having worked closely with the faculties we have identified the downtime period in which we will perform the upgrade, please see dates below:

Starts  – 18/6/2011
Ends    – 30/6/2011

We anticipate the upgrade will be completed prior to the scheduled end date. However given the scale and complexity of the work we ask that all faculties look to plan for the full downtime period in the event that it takes longer than anticipated.

While the VLE is being upgraded it will not be available, hence no content will be accessible via the VLE. It is therefore recommended that module instructors, managers, or schools make adequate provision to ensure students can access material they need during the downtime:  the VLE Service can advise on various approaches.
