Staff: Java problem with Multiple File Uploads

There is currently an issue with Drag and Drop multiple file upload in the Blackboard Content Collection, caused by an  update to the Java software installed on the staff and student desktops.

The problem manifests as a failure to upload files when drag and drop is used to upload one or more files. Depending on the Java version on your machine you may see any of the following symptoms:

  • You may see no progress indicator when you upload and the Submit button on the tool will apparently be inoperable.
  • You may also see a Security Warning dialogue.

Temporary Workaround:

If you see a Security Warning dialog while the Multiple File upload screen is loading, and you have the opportunity to click the ‘Allow’ button, you can safely do this. The Multiple file upload may work for you. If you don’t see a Security Warning dialog you should use single file upload mode or package files.

Single file uploads and package file uploads are working as normal.

Blackboard are working on a fix for the issue, which we will deploy as soon as practical. We will keep you informed of that work on this blog.
