On Wednesday 14th February we will make some changes to announcements in Minerva.
You may have noticed that there are ordering issues when accessing announcements via the link on the Minerva home tab. This is partly because there are thousands of announcements without an end date in Minerva, some going back as far as 2008.
To improve the user experience we will be making the following changes to announcements in modules and organisations that don’t currently have an end date. Any announcements that already have an end date will be unaffected.
Changes will be made based on the academic year as defined in Banner.
- 2015/16 and older will be made unavailable, effective 14/02/18.
- 2016/17 will be made unavailable as of 14/03/18, unless the module is in a non standard part of term and is currently ongoing, or hasn’t begun.
- 2017/18 announcements added prior to 14/02/18 will be unaffected.
- All announcements (made from 14/02/18 onwards) will automatically have an end date of one year from the date added, unless one is already specified.
Note: The announcements won’t be removed, only made unavailable. Staff with editing access can make the announcement available again by specifying a new end date and time.
