Rosetta Stone is working again.
However, we are still investigating to ensure there aren’t any further problems.
It is not possible to access Rosetta Stone at the moment. We are working to resolve this issue.
Apologies for any inconvenience.
Mobile Learn is no longer supported, and as of 1st August Blackboard have removed it from the Apple and Android app stores.
You can continue to use mobile devices via the browser when accessing Minerva, which is now more accessible on mobile devices.
We will continue to improve the mobile experience in Minerva in the lead up to start of term.
Since the last upgrade, the browsers that are supported have changed and you may require a newer version to access resources. In most cases, you will be unaffected by this change and all browsers on standard staff IT desktops are compatible.
Here is a list of supported browser versions:
- Chrome 36+
- Edge 20+
- Firefox 31+
- Internet Explorer 11+ (Windows Only)
- Safari 9+ (Mac Only)
However, the version of Internet Explorer accessed via Desktop Anywhere is currently unsupported (version 10). There are two options if you access Minerva via Desktop Anywhere:
- Do you actually need to use Desktop Anywhere? If you are just accessing Minerva, this can be done on your home PC/Laptop browser without the need to log into Desktop Anywhere. Go directly to https://minerva.leeds.ac.uk/
- If you do need to use Desktop Anywhere then Google Chrome is installed and supported. Please use this browser.
There will be an update to Desktop Anywhere before the new academic year that will update Internet Explorer to version 11 and fix this issue – but in the meantime, please follow the guidance above.
Comments are welcome, however if you need help or advice please contact the IT Service Desk on tel (0113) 343 3333, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Minerva, the new Portal and VLE is planned to go live on Thursday 27th July 2017.
We will need to make the VLE unavailable briefly:
Thursday 27th July, from 9am-11am
Staff: Formative/summative assessment or electronic assignment hand-ins will not be possible during this time period.
Students: Plan for the VLE downtime by retrieving material you know you will need.
Please do blog, repost and publicise this message widely, using the permalink to this post:
The VLE Summer Upgrade is now complete and the VLE is available again.
Staff: A summary of the changes in 2017 are available on the Support Site: http://www.leeds.ac.uk/vle/staff/changes/
Work is now ongoing to restore automatic data feeds from Banner. Until this is complete, there may be a delay in seeing new staff assignments and student enrolments appearing in the VLE.

From 27th July, the VLE and Portal will be combined into one service called Minerva, which will look and feel different to the current Portal. This is the new way in which you will access your VLE modules. The Library Blog has the latest posts and information regarding the new service.
The summer upgrade has started. The VLE will be unavailable until late Wednesday 12th July*
*Additionally, Thursday 13th July may be used for upgrade contingencies if necessary.
