New in BB9: Adding files (10/10)

Before the upgrade you had to modify an item if you wanted to add multiple files, now you don’t need to. You can either choose to attach another file whilst still on the add item page, or use drag and drop to upload files to the Content Collection and then add them to your module (you don’t have to leave the module to do this anymore).

New in BB9: Fewer clicks (9/10)

Common tasks have fewer clicks in the upgraded VLE. For example, if you’re adding Staff Information or an Announcement, you don’t need to go into the Control Panel anymore.

Also, when you’re adding content to an area like Learning Resources, you’ll notice the drop down menu has been replaced with three new menus: Add Content; Add Assessment and Add Interactive Tool. The ‘Go’ button has been removed.

New in BB9: Change for students (8/10)

Some key changes:

  • Instructions for submitting a Blackboard test or assignment are clearer, the ‘Save’ and ‘Submit’ options have been replaced with ‘Save as Draft’ and ‘Submit’.
  • Empty menu content areas are hidden from students automatically, making navigating the module a better experience.
  • When students are enrolled in groups, they will see a link to them under the module/organisation menu.

New in BB9: Embed tool (7/10)

There’s a new tool which makes it easier to embed YouTube, Flickr or Slideshare content into your module. Now you don’t need any embed code or HTML knowledge, just select Add Content and under the Embed heading you’ll see the options available.
