Instructors: Turnitin Anonymous Marking reminder

When students submit a paper to a Turnitin assignment area with anonymity turned on, their name is hidden in the assignment inbox, originality report, paper view, and gradeMark views until the grades are released on the assignment ‘post date’.

Instructors: please ensure you have studied and understood the guide before you attempt to use this feature. The built in anonymous marking feature will require a shift in the way you work. To remain truly anonymous, marking must be completed within the anonymous gradeMark view or on a printout from the anonymous gradeMark view, before the ‘post date’. Administrators should also understand the new feature when setting assessment procedures. For expert advice, contact the ISS helpdesk (0113) 343 3333 and ask for a callback from the VLE service.

See our Turnitin guide for more information.

See the Submit.ac.uk Anonymous Marking FAQ for a brief guide.

Instructors please note you may need to make the TurnitinUK Assignment tool available again. To do this:

  1. Click on the Control Panel link
  2. Click on Manage Tools in the Module Options box
  3. Click on Building Block Tool Availability
  4. Ensure that both the TurnitinUK Assignment options are checked
  5. Click Submit if changes were made, otherwise click Cancel
  6. Then click on Content Type Availability
  7. Ensure that the TurnitinUK Assignment option is checked
  8. Click Submit if changes were made, otherwise click Cancel

Comments are welcome, however if you need help or advice please contact the ISS helpdesk on tel (0113) 343 3333, or helpdesk@leeds.ac.uk.

Turnitin and Anonymous Marking

Many of you are aware of the new anonymous marking feature added to the Turnitin tool in Blackboard and may be wondering when this will be released at Leeds. We have tested this feature extensively and have found instances of marks disappearing. We cannot release this functionality until the issue is resolved with Turnitin. Be assured we are in constant communication with them and have requested urgent action.
